GRI 3-3 - Material Topic: Occupational Health and Safety GRI 403-4, 403-9, 403-10, SASB IF-HB-320a.1

Occupational Health and Safety is included in the Company's Quality Policy. Its management system is implemented based on the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001) and the international standard ISO 45001 – Facilities Management Systems. We encourage a culture of prevention, supported by four pillars: management system, machines and equipment, audits, advisory visits.evenção, apoiada em quatro pilares: sistema de gestão, máquinas e equipamentos, auditorias, visitas consultivas.

The Specialized Service in Safety Engineering and Occupational Medicine (SESMT) works in a preventive manner and implements methods and tools for a safe production process, with the effective participation of employees. Together with the Internal Commission for Accident Prevention (Cipa), it acts to reduce risks to employees. In 2022, the Internal Accident Prevention Week (Sipat) edition had the pilot Cesar Urnhani as master of ceremonies and was dedicated to Race for Safety.

The excellence of our performance in promoting the health of our employees has been recognized externally, in particular by obtaining (in three categories) the Brazil Protection Award, among 204 works evaluated from all regions of the country Brazil. The categories in which Even was recognized are: "Third Party Management" (gold), "Quality of work life" (silver), and "CIPA Performance" (bronze).

For the protection of outsourced professionals, we adopt the practice of routinely holding CPA (Accident Prevention Commission) meetings, with the participation of representatives of the contractor and the contracting party.

The Occupational Safety area is responsible for mitigating the risk of leave, legal losses, and encumbrance to the business. We act from a controlled risk perspective, to prevent injuries, illnesses, and fatalities, to boost our team to high performance.

We comply with all regulatory standards (NRs) aimed at the civil construction segment. The entire construction cycle is provided with control measures, provided for in operational procedures, guaranteeing a safe routine. There are no recent cases linked to non-compliance with mandatory standards.

Part of the surveillance work is the development of preventive OSH campaigns with our own employees and third parties. Our works receive monthly technical visits and audits aimed at raising employee awareness of safety. In 2022, the following campaigns were carried out at construction sites: Tampinha Legal, National Day for the Prevention of Accidents at Work, Talking about Safety at Construction Works, Pink October, and Blue November. For office employees, a series of specific actions were developed, including:

Each year, we carry out a risk management plan related to work safety and linked to a strategic plan, identifying new measures to be implemented, in a process of continuous improvement.

The Occupational Risk Plan was implemented at the beginning of this year, but we observed an increase in the number of accidents, particularly concentrated in the last months of 2022, as a result of turnover at worksites and the need to recruit new employees immediately. To quickly reduce the negative impacts, we accelerated the implementation of training and continuing education qualifications for these professionals.

Information for employees

We maintained participation in some of the main debate forums on OSH, in events of the Regional Superintendence of Labor and Employment in the State of São Paulo (SRTE) and in meetings of the Regional Permanent Committee (CPR), which helped, this year, in structuring the Risk Management Program (PGR) and the implementation of Occupational Risk Management (GRO) at our construction sites. Our team also acted in the interface with the Procurement area, interfering in hiring and approval of suppliers of machines, equipment, and collective and individual protection systems, ensuring the protection of employees and the balance of activities.

Health and Safety at Worksites

The Health and Safety of all people is a priority throughout Even's operations.

For this reason, we have a duly qualified and diverse area that operates on four different fronts to guarantee the safest, most protected, and standardized environment:

  • Consultative Visits: Periodic visits made by Occupational Safety Technicians to monitor and plan the stages together with the Engineers and development of specific training for the workforce, these are carried out before the employee starts the activities, all works have a training room properly prepared for it.
  • Management: Management is 100% centralized in the central office, with the monitoring of several indicators, goals of the area, monitoring of the SESMT indices that are part of the PDTO. The GDFOR is a specific cell within the area, which guarantees employees entry to the construction sites only through training, admission documents, work safety documents, and other compulsory documents, guaranteeing 100% of the workforce is qualified and adhering to all legislation.

GDFOR System

  • Machines, Equipment, and Accommodation: SESMT is responsible for monitoring and releasing the installation of large machines and equipment at worksites, monitors, and develops new technologies for better employee safety. When a supplier is hired that has its own accommodation, the SESMT area is responsible for carrying out a specific visit to assess the health and regulatory conditions of the local facilities. In 2022, three visits were made, and all locations were able to maintain the facilities.

Routine Visits to Accommodation

  • Audits: It is also the duty of SESMT to carry out monthly audits in the works to monitor the effectiveness of the work safety management system in all construction sites, and in this way, technicians are trained to develop activities better.
